Best Automatic Litter Box Deals for Black Friday 2026: A Gift Guide for Cat Owners
Eight automatic litter boxes across budgets, with Black Friday deal status and what to check before buying one as a gift.
How we put this list together
We have not tested these litter boxes in our own homes. This guide is based on each brand’s published specs, prices and return policies, linked in the Sources section at the bottom, so you can check every detail yourself. We picked models that cover different budgets, cat sizes and litter preferences, and we point out the trade-offs the brands themselves list.
Black Friday 2026 is Friday, November 27 and Cyber Monday is Monday, November 30. Not every brand has announced its 2026 deals yet. Where a deal hasn’t been announced, we say so.

The picks in more detail
Litter-Robot 4 – premium pick for most multi-cat homes
- Price: from $699 at Litter-Robot (Oct 17, 2026).
- What the brand says it does: a rotating globe sifts waste from clean litter after each use. The Whisker app shows litter and waste levels and tracks each cat’s weight and visits.
- Cats: supports up to 4 cats weighing 3–25 lb. Kittens under 3 lb should use semi-automatic mode, per the brand.
- Size: footprint 22” x 27”; entryway 15.75” x 15.75”; weighs 24 lb empty.
- Litter: clumping clay litter recommended; some silica crystals can work per the brand.
- Warranty and returns: 1-year warranty included (3-year WhiskerCare extended warranty for $129) and a 90-day in-home trial.
- Worth knowing: it’s one of the most expensive options here. The brand says over 95% of cats acclimate, based on return reasons, and most start using it within a few days to a week. That still means some cats don’t.
Litter-Robot 5 and 5 Pro – newest Litter-Robot models
- Price: Litter-Robot 5 from $799; Litter-Robot 5 Pro from $899 (Oct 17, 2026).
- Cats: up to 5 cats, 3–30 lb, per the brand.
- What’s different: the 5 Pro adds an integrated dual-camera system. Basic camera features are free in the Whisker app (including 5 minutes of daily live streaming). AI facial recognition and extra storage need a paid Whisker+ membership.
- Size: footprint 22” x 27”; height 29.9”; entryway 15.75” x 15.75”.
- Worth knowing: the brand notes the 5 Pro isn’t compatible with the Whisker app outside the US. Subscription costs add up over time, so check Whisker+ pricing before buying.
Litter-Robot EVO – for smaller spaces and 1–2 cats
- Price: from $599 (Oct 17, 2026).
- Cats: up to 2 cats, 3–19 lb.
- Size: footprint 20.6” x 24.3”; height 27.6”; entryway 14.85” x 14.85”.
- Worth knowing: the weight limit is lower than the Litter-Robot 4, so it’s not the pick for a large Maine Coon.
PETKIT Purobot Max 3 – app-connected pick under $600
- Price: $399.99 on PETKIT’s US store, shown against a $499.99 regular price (Oct 17, 2026).
- What the brand says: a low, wide entry; a 76 L drum; a 7 L side waste bin for up to 15 days hands-free in a single-cat home; 35 dB operation; multi-cat health tracking in the PETKIT app.
- Cats: 6+ months old, 3.3–22 lb.
- Note on names: PETKIT used to sell the “PuraMax” / “PuraMax 2”. The current US lineup uses the “Purobot” names.
PETKIT Purobot Max Pro 2 – camera pick for multi-cat homes
- Price: $499.99 with Fence 2.0 included ($549.99 for the version without the fence) on PETKIT’s US store, shown against a $599.99 regular price (Oct 17, 2026).
- What the brand says: an AI camera (1080p, 210° field of view) plus weight sensors to track litter box use and urinary health, and multi-cat facial recognition. It has an 8 L waste bin for up to 17 days, and PETKIT says the entry is 43% larger than the previous Max Pro.
- Cats: 3.3–22 lb; not recommended for kittens under 3.3 lb.
- Worth knowing: a 30-day video history needs PETKIT Care+, a paid upgrade.
PetSafe ScoopFree SmartSpin – works with any litter
- Price: $399.99 at PetSafe (Oct 17, 2026).
- What the brand says: works with any litter (clumping litter recommended); a 6-liter waste drawer holds up to 2 weeks of clumps; the PetSafe Pet Companion app tracks weight and visits (2.4 GHz Wi-Fi).
- Cats: up to 25 lb; the entry is 12” from the ground.
- Returns: PetSafe’s site says you can return within 45 days.
PetSafe ScoopFree Crystal Classic – budget pick
- Price: $99.95 at PetSafe (Oct 17, 2026).
- How it works (per PetSafe): it scoops automatically, and safety sensors make sure it only runs when your cat isn’t inside. Crystal litter in a disposable, plastic-lined tray absorbs moisture and dehydrates waste. When the tray is used up, you put the lid on it and throw it away.
- Worth knowing: it’s built around PetSafe’s crystal litter trays, so you’ll keep buying refill trays. Price those in before you call it the cheapest option.
PetPivot AutoScooper 11 – no app, no Wi-Fi
- Price: $179.00 on PetPivot’s site, shown against $199.99 (Oct 17, 2026).
- What the brand says: starts cleaning 40 seconds after your cat leaves, with a full rotation five minutes later into a 10 L waste container; three buttons and no app or Wi-Fi; a removable liner. PetPivot says to empty the waste container every 5 days and not wait longer than 7.
- Also from PetPivot: the AutoScooper 12 Lite is $149.00 (shown against $179.99) and comes with a 30-day return from delivery and a 1-year limited warranty.
Buying one as a gift? Read this first
- Check the cat’s weight. The limits vary: 3–19 lb (Litter-Robot EVO), 3.3–22 lb (PETKIT Purobot), 3–25 lb (Litter-Robot 4, PetSafe SmartSpin) and 3–30 lb (Litter-Robot 5).
- Check the litter they use. Litter-Robot recommends clumping clay. The PetSafe Crystal models use crystal trays. The SmartSpin works with any litter.
- Measure the space. The Litter-Robot 4 and 5 need about 22” x 27” of floor space.
- Know the return window. Litter-Robot offers a 90-day in-home trial, PetSafe a 45-day return and PetPivot (AutoScooper 12 Lite) a 30-day return from delivery. Some cats take days or weeks to switch, so a longer window matters.
- Factor in ongoing costs. Liners, filters, refill trays and app subscriptions (Whisker+, PETKIT Care+) aren’t included in the sticker price.
- Think about who’s getting it. An automatic litter box is a big change for a cat. It’s usually a better gift for someone who has already said they want one than as a surprise.
FAQ
When does Black Friday 2026 start? Black Friday is November 27, 2026, and Cyber Monday is November 30, 2026. Some brands start earlier. Litter-Robot’s 2025 holiday promotion ran from Nov 3, 2025 to Jan 2, 2026 (per its Canadian holiday-offers page), but 2026 dates haven’t been announced.
Will my cat use an automatic litter box? Most will with time, but not all. Litter-Robot suggests putting the new box where the old one was, keeping both nearby for a while and mixing in a cup of used litter. Buy from a seller with a return window long enough to give your cat time.
Are app and camera features free? Basic features are, but some extras need a subscription. The Litter-Robot 5 Pro’s facial recognition needs Whisker+, and PETKIT’s 30-day video history needs Care+.
