How We Research

ComfyScout guides help you shortlist big home purchases faster. Here is exactly how we put them together, including what we don’t do.

What we use

  • Brand-published facts. Prices, specs, warranties, trial terms and return policies come from each brand’s own website or its official retailer. When a seller publishes something different from the brand, we name the seller we used.
  • Manuals and official guidance. For electrical requirements and safety, we use owner’s manuals and brand support pages and link to them.
  • Dated checks. Each guide shows the date we last checked prices and specs. Prices change often, especially around Black Friday and January sales, so always confirm on the seller’s site before you buy.
  • Linked sources. Every guide ends with a list of the pages we used, so you can check any figure yourself.

What we don’t do

  • We haven’t tested these products hands-on. Our current guides compare what brands publish. We don’t describe how a product feels, sounds or performs in a home, because we haven’t measured that. If we test a product in the future, we’ll say so clearly and show what we found.
  • We don’t guess. If a brand doesn’t publish a figure, we write “Not published” rather than estimating it. If we can’t confirm a claim from a brand or official source, we leave it out.
  • We don’t take payment for placement. No brand can pay to be included, ranked higher or described more kindly.

How we pick “best for” models

Our picks match a published spec to a common need, for example a higher cat weight limit, a 120V plug-in sauna, or a wider user height range. They are a starting point for your shortlist, not a test result. Each pick says why it was chosen.

How we make money

Some links on our site are or may become affiliate links. If you buy through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Commissions don’t affect which products we include or how we rank them. See our Affiliate Disclosure.
